It's about time for our first contest, don't you think? I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it! Here it is:

Snap-A-Shot Contest

As many of you have seen in the polls, snapshots seem to be the most popular topic for a contest.

"A snapshot is popularly defined as a photograph that is "shot" spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent." - Wikipedia


But this is a competition, simply snapping a shot or handing in a random snapshot you took ages ago won't cut it. We want you guys to have fun doing this. A few instructions to get you going:

Don't, I repeat, DO NOT go anywhere without your camera. Or at least try to keep it with you most of the time - who knows when an oppurtunity will strike!

Do things you don't usually do - tilt your camera, try different positions - but don't spend hours on it. It wouldn't be a snapshot anymore!

Follow people around. Yes, it will probably drive them insane, but you might get an excellent shot from one of these moments.


Other than these, there are a few rules you HAVE to follow:

You must be a member of *Capture-That.

Just to be very, very clear: photography only! Edit only if necessary.

Your entry must be new and especially for this contest - meaning, taken after the 13^th of July, 2009.

To enter, send a note to us entitled "Contest" with a thumb of your entry.

Two entries per person.

Entries will be accepted until the 9^th of August, 2009. You've got four weeks!

No nudity, horror or macabre, please.

Perfection is NOT what we're looking for. We want a moment in time caught on camera - a "Kodak moment". Plus points if you make it funny, sweet or super-cute!

Member Features


Here is how to do it:

Go to the member's list: [link]

Pick a random member.

Check to see if they haven't been previously featured.

Choose 3 deviations from their gallery.

Send us a note entitled "Feature", with the deviant's name and thumbs that you have chosen.

We will do four features at a time, so if you don't see your feature right away don't worry. We'll get to it soon.
